Virgin Voyages Packing List (2026): What to Pack & What NOT to Bring

Planning your first Virgin Voyages cruise? You’re in for a treat. From adults-only vibes and Michelin-inspired dining to Scarlet Night and modern staterooms, Virgin Voyages is unlike any other cruise line. And because it’s so different, your Virgin Voyages packing list should be too.
This guide covers exactly what to pack (and what to skip) so you can sail confidently, travel light, and fully enjoy the experience.
Elevate Your Escapes is a top 30 ranking, gold-tier certified Virgin Voyages First Mate (travel agent) for two years in a row. I’ve sailed nineteen Virgin Voyages across all four lady ships in North America, the Caribbean, Europe, Australia (including Sydney!), and New Zealand. I can bring you the best tips for your Virgin Voyages packing list!
Virgin Voyages Packing List Quick Guide:
- Travel Essentials
- Daytime Outfits
- Evening Wear, including Scarlet Night
- Tech
- Toiletries
Travel Essentials You Shouldn’t Forget
Before you think about Scarlet Night outfits or Virgin Voyages Bimini Beach Club, make sure these essentials are packed and easy to access.
Must-Have Documents
- Passport (valid for at least 6 months) + bring a copy, too
- Travel insurance details
- Credit card (will link to your onboard account)
- Government-issued ID to bring out in port with you
Virgin Voyages is not all inclusive. The brand uses a mostly digital experience via their app, but having backups is always smart.
You don’t need a printed boarding pass or luggage tags. When you arrive to port, the porters will write your cabin number on a tag.
Clothing: What to Wear on Virgin Voyages
Virgin Voyages has a relaxed but fashion-forward atmosphere. There’s no formal night, but style is encouraged!

Daytime Wear
- Lightweight tops and tanks
- Shorts, sundresses, or casual skirts
- Breathable pants or linen trousers
- Comfortable walking shoes or sneakers – I’m either wearing AllBirds Tree Runners or Tom‘s Classic
- Sandals (Fitory – they match everything!) and/or flip-flops (gold Havaianas are my standard)
- Hat or cap for sun protection – quick-dry white is the best
Think resort-casual with comfort in mind, especially for port days.

This Nerlerolian red dress is great for European ports, especially for winery visits.
If you’re looking for ideas for things to do in port, check out the itineraries on my Places I have Visited page. You can also read my Viator recommendations. All booked clients get personalized support in planning for ports – reach out to me to learn more at el@elevateyourescapes.com.
Evening & Nightlife Outfits
Virgin Voyages nightlife is a big deal, so this is where your packing list can shine.
- Trendy evening outfits (no tuxes or ball gowns needed) for swanky dinner at restaurants like Brilliant Lady’s Rojo
- Smart-casual dresses or jumpsuits
- Stylish shirts or polos
- Statement accessories – like a starfish bracelet, starfish earrings, starfish hairclips, shell shoulder handbag, red rhinestone earrings (I have all of these!)
- Dressy shoes or heels – keep it simple with small tan heels that go with everything, like these from Dream Pairs
While onboard, I always keep my phone on this pearl crossbody lanyard. It’s the only thing I need to carry around with me, so why walk around with a purse?
Scarlet Night Must
Pack something red. It doesn’t have to be head-to-toe, but red attire is encouraged and makes the night even more fun. Most people will wear bright red.

This elegant BTFBM red dress matches style with comfort!
It’s my Scarlet Night go-to.
Swim & Sun Essentials
You’ll spend a lot of time by the pool or on the beach, so don’t skimp here.
- 3 swimsuits (so one is always dry)
- Cover-ups or sarongs – this cover-up is a staple.
- Sunglasses – I live in these RayBans. Well worth the investment!
- Reef-safe sunscreen
- After-sun lotion or aloe
- Lightweight beach bag
- For rocky beaches, especially in places like Cannes, lightweight water shoes – these are so easy to pack
Virgin Voyages provides towels, so you can leave those at home.

This Suuksess red bathing suit is the right amount of style combined with coverage. The bright red color works perfectly for onboard or at the Bimini Beach Club.
Fitness & Wellness Gear
Virgin Voyages is known for its impressive gym and wellness offerings.
- Workout clothes
- Athletic shoes
- Reusable water bottle – no matter if you’ll work out or not! I prefer this Owala FreeSip
Yoga mats are provided onboard, so no need to pack one unless you have a personal favorite.
Tech & Convenience Items
These small items can make a big difference during your cruise.
- Phone and charger
- Portable power bank – this iWalk bank plugs right into the bottom of your phone. No cords needed!
- International adapter, if needed for European voyages like Lisbon, Split, or Dubrovnik. Virgin has US plugs onboard.
- Earbuds or headphones – these inexpensive Zzu wireless buds are similar to AirPods at a fraction of the price.
- Small backpack or daypack for excursions – this 15L water resistant daypack folds up!
- Crossbody purse for Europe
- (Potentially) Waterproof Phone Case
Virgin Voyages cabins include plenty of USB ports, but outlets can still be limited.
Toiletries & Personal Items
Virgin Voyages supplies high-quality shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, so you can pack lighter.
This is the toiletry bag I use. I like that its spacious and has various pockets in the middle and on the perimeter.
- Travel toothbrush and travel-sized toothpaste
- Skincare and makeup essentials, makeup remover wipes
- Travel-sized detangling brush – I LOVE this for my knotty hair! I actually found ou about this brand onboard Virgin in the clothing store.
- Medications and motion sickness remedies, like Sea-Band Ginger Gum (I always have this with me just in case)
- Razor (here’s the Venus Mini portable razor that I use) and grooming tools
- Secret Clinical Strength Deodorant – this one is the best
- Minimal first-aid items
- Travel sized Wrinkle Release Spray
- Travel-sized Hand sanitizer and Wet Ones for long days ashore
- Nuun or other electrolytes – low to no sugar is best
If you’re loyal to a specific hair or skincare product, bring it along.
Virgin Voyages does have a small onboard shop where you can pick up any essentials you may have left behind. The options are super limited there, as well as in most ports, so try your best to remember everything you need!
What NOT to Pack for Virgin Voyages
Knowing what to leave behind is just as important as knowing what to bring.
- Towels (provided)
- Hair dryers (provided)
- Formal wear (not needed, there’s no captain’s dinner)
- Bottled water or other drinks (refill stations available)
Bonus Packing Tips for Virgin Voyages
- Pack layers: Evenings can be breezy on deck, and Virgin Voyages restaurants are often chilly
- Bring outfits that mix and match to save space.
- Use packing cubes to stay organized.
- You can bring two bottles of wine per cabin onboard at embarkation day only.
- Bring cash in ones and fives for excursion tips and small purchases on land. Many ports, like Castries, St. Lucia, Roatan, and Costa Maya/Bacalar, still operate with mostly cash.
- Bring magnet hooks to hang hats, bags, and other items on the walls
- Check your itinerary and the entertainment page for themed events before you sail.

I originally bought this stunning Grace Karin gold dress for We Fancy on Brilliant Lady but ended up wearing it for the Resilient New Years Eve Ahoy.
